Kindergarten is Yummy!

It has been a very busy week in kindergarten. We started our week learning about colors and color words. We read the book I See Colors and Brown Bear. Brown Bear, What Do You See? Our new sight words were I and see.
One of the most exciting parts of the week was M&M math. We used these yummy candies to work on our counting, sorting, and graphing skills.

We ended the week with a special visit from Clawd the Eagle!

Go Eagles!

It has been another wonderful week in kindergarten. We are all adjusting nicely to our full day schedule. The week started with a "mystery". After reading The Kissing Hand, the class discovered several "clues" from Chester the Raccoon . We searched all over the school but could never find him. We did however find a sweet treat that he left for us in the classroom.
The kids were so excited to take their own copy of our book School Tools home for the weekend. While reading this book we identified new sight words, learned to track print with our fingers, and worked on sequencing parts of a story.
Honey Bear Race is the new math game in our class, and it was quite a hit. Everyone had a great time cheering on their favorite bear as they played the game.

It is so exciting to see the children already building strong friendships. The entire class is having a great time learning and playing together.

We ended our week with a Pep Rally led by the CHS cheerleaders. Go Eagles!

Celebrating A Great First Week of Kindergarten!

Mrs. Snell's kids had a terrific first week of school. The kindergarten kids had a wonderful time learning school rules and routines. There are so many new teachers and friends to meet at Thompkins. During our first week we talked about our important "School Tools". We also read a wonderful story...The Kissing Hand.

A special thanks to all of our wonderful parents for helping to make our first week a huge success!

Reminders:

1. Our full day schedule begins Monday, August 16th.
