Future Firefighters!
Mrs. Snelll's Class was so excited to receive a special visit from the Ozark Fire Department. We learned about fire safety while we took a tour of the fire truck and the Little People's Fire House!

Fabulous Fall Field Trip to Aplin Farms
The kindergarten kids had a fabulous time at Aplin Farms. We picked sunflowers and pumpkins, fed the farm animals, and walked through a corn maze. (Don't forget about fighting off yellow jackets!!!!!!!!) This trip was a great way to kick off our study of the farm. I am posting our class pic...keep checking back for more pics coming soon!

Chicka Chicka Boom Boom

Hansel and Gretel
Our class enjoyed a wonderful presentation by the Birmingham Children's Theater! These talented actors told the traditional story of Hansel and Gretel with a new twist!

A Visit from "Little Miss Ozark"
Mrs. Snell's Class was so excited to receive a special visit from Little Miss Ozark, Deanna McDaniel. Deanna was a student in Mrs. Snell's class last year! She read stories and brought a special treat for the class. Mrs. Grantham class also came over to take part in the fun. We are so proud of you Deanna!!

A "BEARY" Good Week!
We have read several wonderful bear stories during the past few weeks. "Hairy Bear", "Bear Snores On", and "Time to Sleep" are just a few of these great stories. We are also learning about hibernation. On Friday, we brought our favorite Teddy Bears to school to share with our friends. We wrote about our bears during Writing Workshop and sorted our bears during math. The bears also enjoyed playing in centers and "hibernating" at rest time. Next week we will continue our bear theme as we read one of Mrs. Snell's favorite stoires...Goldilocks and the Three Bears.

Camo Day!
We are learning about winter in Ozark! The days are rainy, cold, and dreary. One of our new vocabulary words is camoflauge....we celebrated by having a Camo Day!

Happy New Year!
This week we celebrated our new year by creating our own resolutions for 2011. We learned that a resoluton is a goal or job that we want to work on throughout the year. Mrs. Snell is going to work on becoming a better "cook".
Our shared reading book this week was Chicken Soup with Rice by Maurice Sendak. This book is about a little boy who loves to sip chicken soup with rice during every month of the year. Check out this link to our story....
